The English Interest Group was formed in June 2017 by amalgamating all members from the former Cornish Interest Group, Greater London Interest Group, Midlands and Northern England Interest Group and the Southern and East Anglia Interest Group.

Now the group is concerned with the counties of: Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Cheshire, City of London and Greater London, Cornwall, County Durham, Cumberland, Derbyshire, Devon, Dorset, Essex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Herefordshire, Hertfordshire, Huntingdonshire, Kent, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Northumberland, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Rutland, Shropshire, Somerset, Staffordshire, Suffolk, Surrey, Sussex, Warwickshire, Westmorland, Wiltshire, Worcestershire, Yorkshire.

Each of the former Interest Group Libraries continue to be held by the Group and are based in the Family Research Centre in Auckland.

We continue to subscribe to journals from the English Family History Societies for the areas of interest. Some journals are now e-journals and some continue to be paper copies. These are circulated to our members by round-robin.

An English Interest Group e-newsletter is sent to members three times a year, submissions are always welcome and we attend NZSG events when possible. We hold two or three research days each year at the FRC in Auckland and we always include the Interest Contacts for the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, Huguenot Research and Welsh Contact

If you have any queries about research in any of the counties please contact us and one of the committee will respond.

If you would like to join the Group, send your name and email address to English Interest Group.
