Discoveries from Family History Month 2024 and more about the Kiwi Collection
August is Family History Month and Sarah Hewitt shares some of the new things she learnt during the month. She then talks about the individual record sets within the Kiwi Collection.

Gale Newspapers
The New Zealand Society of Genealogists has a number of member benefits. One of those is access to Gale Newspapers. Sarah Hewitt shows you how to access and search this collection, which does include (at the time of recording) one New Zealand publication in addition to many more from the UK and US.
Discovery
Another membership benefit is access to free downloads from The National Archives via Discovery. Sarah Hewitt takes you through how to access Discovery and download records.

NZSG Shipping Collection Project
The NZSG launched a new project to collect shipping records for New Zealand in May 2024. Sarah Hewitt and Melanie Middleton talk about the project and answer questions. Further information is on our NZSG Shipping Collection Project page.

Remembering Those Who Served
On Anzac Day 2024, Sarah Hewitt was joined by others to remember those who have served. Melanie Middleton announced some of the new military records that would be added to the Kiwi Collection in June 2024 and Sarah announced a new project - the Le Quesnoy Surviving Soldiers Biography Project.

Le Quesnoy Project with Christine Barbour
In our November 2023 presentation, Christine Barbour talks about the project she led to identify the soldiers who survived the Battle of Le Quesnoy on 4 November 1918. The information from this project is on the December 2023 Kiwi Collection update, as well as being contributed to the New Zealand Liberation Museum Te Arawhata at Le Quesnoy.
