Writing Your Family History
At some point, most family historians face the question of how to share their research with their families and possibly the wider world. We give a few suggestions in our Getting It Right series on Sharing Your Family History. Our Getting Started resources also have information on sourcing your research and copyright.
If you need some help, here are some additional ways to get it:
Online Writing and Publishing Group
Available to NZSG members, this group meets online on the second Tuesday of the month, via Teams. To join the group, email education@genealogy.org.nz. Recordings of previous meetings are available on our website.
Branch Writing Groups
A number of Branches have active writing groups. Find the branch nearest to you and find out what is available. Note that writing groups may not have spaces available, but may be able to recommend other options.
NZSG Library
Members are able to borrow books from our Library. We have an array of books on writing and publishing your family history. Go to the Visual Search/NZSG/Publishing Guides. Some are available online.
We also have a wide array of published family histories that may provide inspiration.
