FRC Reopening

The FRC reopened on Friday 3rd December. For the protection of visitors, volunteers and staff anyone wishing to enter the FRC will need: (1) to wear a mask; (2) to show a valid ‘My Vaccine Pass’ as proof of double-vaccination; (3) to scan in using the Covid tracer app and/or sign in manually at Reception; (4) to demonstrate social distancing (1m separation from others) once in the FRC; (5) to practice good hand sanitisation. For anyone unable to comply with the above, our remote services (e.g. Research Services) will now be fully functional from 3rd December.

Regional Research Repositories in New Zealand, a series of guides on where to find information in a geographical region.

This publication covers the geographical region of Southland from Clinton in the north across to Fiordland and down to the southernmost tip of the South Island, including Stewart Island across the Foveaux Strait. Also included is mention of Queenstown which has its resources housed in both the provinces of Otago and Southland; technically, however, Queenstown has never been part of Southland. For the sake of helping genealogists to track down the location of Queenstown records mention is included in the guide-books Regional Research Repositories: Researching in Otago as well as Regional Research Repositories: Researching in Southland.
