The Nelson Region,  located in the north-western corner of the South Island includes Golden Bay and Tasman Bay and extends south-east to its border with Marlborough Region.   This region includes the city of Nelson and the towns of Richmond and Motueka.    Marlborough Region lies in the north-eastern corner of the South Island from Marlborough Sounds in the north southwards to the province of Canterbury.  The main town is Blenheim and includes the farming areas of Wairau Plains.   The region also includes Picton and the east coast district of Kaikoura.
