FRC Reopening

The FRC reopened on Friday 3rd December. For the protection of visitors, volunteers and staff anyone wishing to enter the FRC will need: (1) to wear a mask; (2) to show a valid ‘My Vaccine Pass’ as proof of double-vaccination; (3) to scan in using the Covid tracer app and/or sign in manually at Reception; (4) to demonstrate social distancing (1m separation from others) once in the FRC; (5) to practice good hand sanitisation. For anyone unable to comply with the above, our remote services (e.g. Research Services) will now be fully functional from 3rd December.

King Country

The region of hill country which lies to the west of Lake Taupo and the mountains of the Tongariro Park and reaches the west coast of the North Island between Urenui at the southern end, and the Aotea Harbour (north of Kawhia) at the northern limit. The principal towns are Waitomo, Taumarunui, Ohura, Te Kuiti and Kaitieke.



The region of the central North Island surrounding Lake Taupo between the southern boundaries of the Waitomo and Bay of Plenty regions and across to the western boundary of the Hawke’s Bay region and south to the northern boundary of the Taihape region. It includes the town of Taupo.
